a homage to the last minute on dit editorial..

i have managed to survive a term at great baddow. quite a feat i think..

the term in review:
  • 59 teaching days
  • 1 totally hungover teaching day (never to be repeated)
  • 96 history lessons taught
  • 291 names of students learnt
  • 9 OMR sheets completed
  • 1 time the head has assumed i'm a 6th former (who can wear civvies)
  • 35 incident report sheets filled in
  • 4 physical fights broken up by inserting myself into the middle
  • 2 secret grudges held against other teachers
  • 7 times i've been told that i am hated and despised (by the same student)
  • 1 student who i've inspired (for want of a better word) to become a history teacher (it's true! her mother told me at parents night.. it made my heart jump up and down and i couldn't stop grinning)
  • 3 students who have cried in my presence
  • 2 times students have made me cry in the toilets after last bell
  • 12 friday night pints at the pub bitching with the other teachers
  • 1 lovely letter from parents commending me on the job i'm doing
  • 1 exceptionally critical letter from parents complaining about the job i'm doing
  • 5 girls and 1 guy in office with extreme crushes on mike paradowski

but i got through it all and now i'm on school holidays! tomorrow i head off to berlin and krakow for two weeks. my plans include:
  • sleeping late
  • eating my way through a lengthy list of recommendations (thanks to matt, ali, zorg and kate)
  • tracking down matiàs - the handsomest man in the world. japan friends will remember him from the a-bar, drunken doctors, kissing in the rain etc... all i have to go on is a fuzzy photograph and the fact that he works as a doctor in berlin. or did approximately 3 years ago. wish me luck!
  • trying to make big life decisions involving what i should do after summer term
and i'm sure i'll find plenty of other activities to fill up my days. i'll try to update on my travels but it will depend i suppose on how long i spend in dark bars and cafes pondering life, love and trying to look mysterious...

all those numbers shows you should have been a scientist! :)

I know you will have an awesome time in Berlin and Krakow. Make sure you get all romantic on the long train journey. :) Also take time out to think about how hard it was before the wall came down and how just beautiful the Architecture is in Germany. Such a quaint little place full of wonder and excitement, I wonder if you will like it too. Be safe and speak soon.

OnDit lists! I loved doing those...

Have a brilliant time in Berlin babe, and good luck with the life decisions. You know if you decide to come home I'll be here waiting with a ky chow dinner and picnics in the park.
